Which, resulted in a few injuries and the next on my list is sure to provide me with a few more.
Tuesday night, one of my hoop students came in to class and said “Kym, can you hold your hands above your head and show me how to raise your hoop from your knees to your hands without using your hands?”
Huh, now?
I remember when I first learned raising your hoop from your waist to chest with no hands and it took me forever, so this seemed more daunting.
But I broke it down and have made progress! So far without breaking my glasses. The hard part is getting the hoop from off of your shoulder blades to your arms overhead. The trick is to think of raising your shoulder blades straight up to the ceiling and then circling your arms around to make it jump up there. Short progress film (pre-workout, hence the awesome workout shoes)
I'm going to keep refining it - smooth it out! Hmmm, maybe I will call it the transporter since it magically jumps from one place to another...

I think from watching your video, if you had your arms closer to each other above your head, it might make for an easier rotation to get the hoop up smoother. I don't know for sure, as I have never attempted this :) but it looks like what's happening is similar to if you tried to knee hoop with your legs far apart or chest hoop arms in with your arms out to your sides instead of close to your body.
PS- I don't mean to sound like I'm criticizing!! Cuz whatever you're doing is pretty awesome as is :p
haha no worries! yeah, i've smoothed it out a bunch since the trial run - keeping your hands clasped and together keeps your arms in! You are definitely right - it makes the move easier! (you should try it! remove glasses first...hah)
LOL, ya, I noticed you picking up your glasses after and thought it was pretty smart. The hoop comes right at your face!!
